Thanks to gravitational waves observed: traces of collision of two black punches

Astronomers have probably observed light for the first time, which was created as a result of a merger of two black punches. It was the first direct observation of the consequences of such a collision and another confirmation for young gravitational wave astronomy, such as the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). Because the event baptized on GW190521G was first with the detectors LIGO and VIRGO on 21. May 2019 observed, only later, the apparently associated light signals from Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) were discovered.

Traces of a tremendous collision

The scientific study was led by the Caltech astronomer Matthew Graham, which classes the discovery. So black punches are therefore particularly difficult to watch, because their immense gravity can not even escape light. Indirectly, however, they are quite exploring themselves, for example because they accelerate matter in their environment and heat that this lights up. Under the right requirements, the collision of two black punches could be observed directly, at least the theories.

To do this, two black punch had to merge, which are in the gigantic maternity by another, a lot of rough black hole. After the collision, they were changed the direction and then patient through the material gathered there, so Graham. That was then relatively short – days or weeks – after the collision light up and exactly that was now apparently observed. Because the ZTF instrument looked at the heaven region, from which the gravitational waves were not directly signals, but days later had been discovered with a time such light traces.

The tracks were therefore first discovered in the recordings. So one can understand that it has become weaker for about a month and have disappeared. But the astronomers could no longer analyze the spectrum of the signals and narrow their origin with coarse security. But even alternative explanations are largely excluded. The researchers have also determined that the distant black hole in the 15 years has previously been relatively normal, without such light flashes.

Another flash predicted

If your theory is right about the light signal, the newly created black hole had to rain again in the dust disk around the rough black hole, the researchers still say. Then, such a flashing should be created again, which should be visible to the ZTF instrument. It was a further confirmation for the gravitational wave astronomy, which is probably the revolution of astronomy when they had been classified for a long time.
